My New Title

See that beautiful baby girl there? That’s my daughter Kat, and her beautiful baby girl, Mayleigh! I’m the Grandma, aka Grammy, in the forefront holding my beautiful granddaughter.

She is my first grandbaby, and therefore has given me a new title in my life… one that I am so proud to have bestowed on me - Grandma. Being a Grammy is the best!! I love it <3 ! I have to admit that before, the word Grandma kinda scared me… made me feel old and ancient. But when I held Mayleigh, all of those fears and feelings vanished and were replaced with feelings of love and totally overwhelming awe! My heart filled with so much love and happiness for her… it wasn’t the same as holding my own newborn children, it was different… I was holding my baby’s baby. That feeling is amazing!

Mayleigh is proof that life will go on. I look so forward to seeing all that life will provide her, and how she will be shaped. I’m excited to see who she will become…and I look forward to sharing every step of that journey with her for as long as I am able.

Spring!! I love Spring!! The pretty pastels of the season show up in everything I see… flowers, birds, even vegetables.  Today was such a beautiful day here in Raleigh, NC so I spent all afternoon planting and transplanting flowers and veggies.  There’s something about sticking my hands into the soil and mixing it all around to get a pot, or bowl, ready for plants.  I love it! I have to admit that this is the easy part… It’s the actual raising of the little seed or seedling that challenges me. But, it’s a new year, so hopefully I’ll have a healthy, happy garden in about a month or two. Every year I try my hand at something new, usually a new vegetable or two that I’ve never tried to grow.  This year it’s garden beans, beets, and swiss chard.  It should be interesting…  I’ll keep you posted!
